R P Rawnsley (aka Becky) started writing some twenty years ago, when she couldn’t ignore her you-gotta-write-gremlin’s tantrums anymore.
After years of getting nowhere, she realised if she was ever going to get off the slush-pile and onto the shelves, she needed help. Hunting for answers, she stumbled across Margie Lawson’s awesome website and struck writing-gold. Her work now regularly finals in contests, and she has discovered a love for deepening her understanding of writing craft. She now teaches online writing courses for Margie. (For any budding writers, check out this link: https://www.margielawson.com/ )
Becky writes YA fantasy with a mix of magic and grit, swirls of romance, and dashes of humour.
Her life has been a roller-coaster of wild swings, unexpected twists, glorious heights, and rocky depths (although in those depths were precious gifts). She has travelled the world, studied Chinese martial arts, worked as a waitress, a factory-worker, a site-engineer and finally as a physiotherapist for many years. She’s had some wild years, and some rough years, but she’s blessed with a wonderful family and magnificent friends. She believes in second chances, in redemption, and that it’s never too late to change.
Her passion when it comes to writing is to create page-turners featuring complex and compelling characters. Heroes and heroines who are strong but vulnerable, or who seem weak but find their inner strength, who are quirky and flawed and messed-up and human. She puts them in impossible situations in fabulous or unusual locations and lets them do their darndest.
She lives with her husband and daughter in a cottage in Cumbria, NW England, between the mountains and the sea.
